As a kid growing up in New Jersey, I used to dream about having an Orlando FL vacation with my family! We were fortunate enough to make it down a few times but not until I moved here, did I realize just how awesome this place was! Quite a few years later, a husband and 3 kids later, we had the opportunity to move here and haven’t regretted it a single bit.
Oddly enough, my photography business in New Jersey was kept going by visitors to the Shore area and almost 12 years later, the same is still true.
With visitors to the area anywhere from Austin, TX to Washington DC, an Orlando FL vacation is usually on someones list. Florida sure packs a lot of amazing sights and things to do in such a small area! Today, we’re going to tackle a three of my faves!
Top of my list cause, duh! As an annual passholder (and VERY proud of it) I obviously get to frequent there. Every single time I go, there’s something new and exciting found. I’m not even kidding! And as a homeschool mom, if I’m having a rough day getting my kids interested in something a quick trip to Animal Kingdom checks schooling off for the day! The castmembers are SO KNOWLEDGEABLE about the animals and the habitats that my kids literally have no idea they just completed their schooling for the day. They think we took the day off. Shhhhhhhh. Don’t tell them.
Gatorland is second on my list (number one in my heart) ONLY BECAUSE I don’t have an annual pass yet. As soon as I get one, Gatorland and Animal kingdom can duke it out 😉
Again, another one of those places for homeschool moms and dads to take the kids, make them think you’re taking the day off, but really the kids are being flooded with information. The staff there was phenomenal, the place is glistening clean, those caretakers love those animals (there’s more than gators there!) like they were their own children. And FUNNNNNNY! I LOVE to laugh. My family watched the Legends of the Swamp show as well as attended the Up Close Encounters…not only were the trainers (pardon me if that’s not what they’re called) so stinkin full of info, but they were hysterical and down to Earth. Such an awesome place with a great mission! Gatorland is a MUST add to your Orlando FL vacation!
Gatorland, the Coombs’ adore you!
In my honest opinion, I don’t think your Orlando FL vacation is complete without a trip to the beach. The sand (in most places…we do have sand here that I call everything bagel sand…it’s a mess) in New Smyrna Beach is to DIE FOR. Powdery and soft and the salty air breeze…amazing.
If you’re lucky enough to have a car while on vacation, New Smyrna Beach is about an hour long drive from Orlando. Filled with art and culture and some good eats, New Smyrna Beach is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle. And do yourself a favor and bring your pup to Smyrna Dunes Park!
And this gorgeous session featured on my blog today….family visiting New Smyrna Beach!
