In this guide, I’ll share my favorite sunrise photo locations in Orlando and nearby coastal spots, plus tips to make your early-morning session as easy and beautiful as possible.
Softer Light: Florida’s midday sun is bright and harsh. Sunrise offers flattering, natural light that works beautifully for all skin tones.
Cooler Temperatures: Especially in summer, mornings are far more comfortable than afternoons.
Less Crowded: Beaches, parks, and resorts are nearly empty, which means more privacy and fewer distractions.
Calm Kids (and Parents): Believe it or not, little ones are often in better moods earlier in the day compared to a late-afternoon session.

If you want an iconic Orlando backdrop without leaving the city, Lake Eola delivers. The lakefront path, swan boats, and skyline views all glow at sunrise. Mornings mean fewer joggers and strollers, so you’ll feel like you have the park to yourself.
Best for: Families staying downtown or wanting an urban-meets-nature feel.

This 47-acre garden offers oak canopies, wildflower paths, and a peaceful creek that lights up beautifully at sunrise. It has the same serene, tucked-away feel as other gardens in Winter Park but is photographer-friendly and easily accessible.
Best for: Families who want lush greenery and natural backdrops without leaving Orlando.
Plan your visit to Mead Botanical Garden.
The wooden boardwalk, colorful architecture, and waterfront views make Disney’s BoardWalk perfect for early-morning sessions. At sunrise, you’ll find calm reflections on the water and no crowds spilling out of the bakery yet.
Best for: Families staying on Disney property who want vacation photos with a resort backdrop.

Just west of Orlando, Lake Louisa offers open fields, oak hammocks, and rolling hills—rare for Florida! Sunrise here is magical, especially with the morning mist over the lakes.
Best for: Adventurous families or those wanting a more natural, rustic setting.

Sometimes the best way to experience a sunrise session is to head to the coast. Here are my go-to spots within driving distance of Orlando:
Wide sandy beaches, dunes, and soft pink skies make New Smyrna Beach family sessions one of the most photogenic sunrise options. It’s quiet in the mornings and has plenty of variety for both candid and posed shots.
Best for: Families on vacation who want a true “Florida beach” feel without the tourist chaos.

With its rock jetty, historic lighthouse, and stunning ocean views, Ponce Inlet family photos are always a favorite. At sunrise, the golden light hits the rocks and lighthouse in ways that feel cinematic.
Best for: Larger families and extended-family sessions, thanks to wide open spaces.
Explore the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse.
Closer to Orlando, Cocoa Beach photo sessions bring classic surf vibes and easy access. Sunrise means softer sand colors and fewer beachgoers, making it ideal for stress-free family portraits.
Best for: Families who want both beach portraits and playful water shots.
If you’re heading to Florida’s Gulf Coast, Clearwater’s sunsets are famous—but its sunrises are the hidden gem. The soft pastel skies, calm Gulf waters, and iconic pier are unmatched for morning sessions.
Best for: Couples and families extending their trip beyond Orlando.

Plan Outfits the Night Before: Avoid rushing by having everything laid out, ironed, and ready. Need help? See my guide on what to wear for Florida beach photos.
Bring Snacks & Coffee: Early mornings can be tough, especially for kids. A little food goes a long way.
Arrive 10–15 Minutes Early: Sunrise light shifts quickly; being on time ensures we capture the best moments.
Embrace the Mood: Sunrise brings a calm, quiet energy—perfect for authentic, connected photos.
Sunrise family photos in Orlando (and along Florida’s coast) offer a combination of soft light, peaceful backdrops, and unforgettable memories. Whether you’re visiting Disney, exploring Winter Park, or vacationing on the beach, choosing an early-morning session guarantees a gallery that feels timeless.
