I truly believe that no one else can tell a love story better than the couple themselves. Tana was gracious enough to share her and Dane’s story with me and honestly, it’s one of my favorites ever. When you know, you know. That’s enough. Enjoy this Capen House wedding story!
“Dane and I have a nontraditional love story. We had a crush on each other in high school and passed notes back and forth during lunch, but we were never formally in a relationship. Then one day we ran into one another many years later at a bar. Literally, he ran into me because I didn’t notice he was there and he wanted to get my attention. For the rest of the night, we chatted it up just like we did as high school kids. All smiles and laughs. Eight years later over casual conversation, him and I decided we should get married. We talked about possible wedding dates, venues, guests, etc., but this was all during the pandemic, so no stores were even open for him to buy a ring and propose yet. By the time he was finally able to propose, our wedding was completely planned and set up. Wedding date and all, a mere 2 weeks later. He chose the most perfect spot, Kraft Azalea Park in Winter Park, FL. This was one of two venues we were choosing between to say our vows. It’s a public park outside covered with lush greenery overlooking a lake. There is a stunning statue engraved with the phrase, ” Pause friend, let beauty refresh the spirit.” His proposal was simple, sweet, and thoughtful, just as he is.”
“My younger self thought of my wedding as being outdoors and consisting of a large gathering of friends and family. My present self was beyond satisfied and grateful for the 13 guests that joined us in the union of our wedding.”

“My wedding day was perfect, yet unexpected for me personally. I am the emotional one and my husband is known to be rather stoic. I expected to either be crying uncontrollably or be so nervous walking down the aisle and exchanging vows that I would surely mess up the words. Instead, I was at peace in those very moments. I remember standing there saying every word with purpose. I had no nerves. I was exactly where I was supposed to be.” ~ Tana
The grounds for this Capen House wedding with Tana and Dane are absolutely beautiful and has SO MANY options for beautiful wedding photos…and even room for some fun!
One thing that caught my eye as soon as I waled in the door to the Capen House wedding, was the amount of windows which produced some beautiful natural light!
“My color choices, if you would even say I had any, were green and white. We had Italian Ruscus as our greenery down the center of our dining table and a variation of white garden roses and white ranunculuses as center pieces.”
“We wanted the focus of our day to be about the importance of our marriage and the vows we were taking. We kept everything else beautiful and simple.”

“My absolute favorite moment of the evening, besides the actual ceremony, was watching my husband give a speech to our guests before dinner was served. He told our love story, starting as far back as high school. He brought items that were meaningful to us and our relationship. One was even an inside joke that him and I have. He showed his heart in that speech showing everyone exactly why I fell in love with him.”
Newlywed’s advice that you could give Brides-To-be?
“Don’t spend a year planning a wedding or spend all of the money you have saved. Every part of the process should be enjoyable.”
